Stimulate Healing with Regenerative Medicine

Regenerative Stem Cell Therapy

At the forefront in healthcare is the science of Stem Cell Therapy. Delivering safe and effective results without drugs or surgery is the most exciting trend in all of medicine.  Known as the greatest advancement since penicillin, stem cells are offering a window of opportunity for doctors to help patients get off prescription medications and avoid surgeries.

In regenerative medicine, stem cells are cells that can promote rejuvenation, repair, and regeneration in the body.  Stem cells have been shown to possess remarkable healing properties for a variety of ailments because of their ability to send signals to injured cells to growth and heal.  It is important to understand that these cells create a progressive response are not a “quick-fix” pain reliever.  Working with a trusted doctor who has experience in the field of regenerative and functional medicine will deliver greater, long-term results versus a “minute-clinic.”

As always, each person must be evaluated and properly diagnosed by a physician before any type of treatments are performed.

Ultrasound Guided Injections

Ultrasound Guided Injections

The expertise of injecting takes years of practice and training.  Stem Cells, Exosomes, and PRP are all incredibly powerful treatments in healing without drugs or surgery.

Dr. Steven Sorr is meticulous at placing the regenerative medicine solution directly to the damaged ligament, tendon, or joint.  An important and unique difference in this technique is the comprehensive nature of treatment; one single injection is rarely ever effective.

An ultrasound machine is a safe tool that does not deliver any radiation to the area.  It uses energy much like sonar in ships to bounce the image of bone, tendon, ligament, and muscle back to the computer screen so the physician can see, in real time, the tissue and the placement of the orthobiologic solution.

US-guided injections are excellent for treating meniscus tears, rotator cuff tear, labral tears, and tendonitis.  In addition, nerve hydrodissection can be done alongside the treatment of a tear or arthritis to help control pain and liberate any adhesions that restrict normal anatomy and physiology.

How To Avoid Joint Replacement Surgery with Stem Cell Therapy

You may have already seen doctors or surgeons that diagnosed you with Arthritis aka “Bone-on-Bone”, or Degenerative Joint Disease. These conditions are commonly treated with anti-inflammatory drugs (NSAIDs), narcotic (opiate) painkillers, and injections such as Rooster Comb viscosupplementation, Synvisc® and/or cortisone shots.  Stem Cells deliver the specific conditions needed to reverse arthritis and promote the growth of new cartilage, ligament, and joint stability.

With chronic joint pain, there is typically advanced degenerative damage such as cartilage loss, meniscal tears, or ligamentous laxity. At Source of Health, a Scottsdale stem cell center we use your own stem cells to boost healing and promote the tissue repair process.

By targeting the damaged tissue that is causing the pain, stem cell therapy promotes cartilage and soft tissue healing.  This results in improved joint stability, resistance to impact, and thereby less pain.

When Will I Be Pain-Free?

Pain is a debilitating condition and we know that getting you out of pain is a top priority!  However, pain is a side-effect of a deeper problem, and that is what stem cells are there to do – heal. Does stem cell therapy for pain, absolutely it does!

The healing process typically takes 3-6 months so along with that timeline, our RegenFx Program delivers a comprehensive, holistic approach to stem cell therapy.  There is always hope when you meet our expert physician, Dr. Steven Sorr. You will receive a very educational experience and be guided every step of the way.

Why Are Cortisone Shots Bad For Your Joint Health?

Cortisone is a steroid injection used to turn off pain and inflammation. This is also known as “The Stress Hormone,” yet people line up to get on the merry-go-round for pain management injections daily.

This is pure insanity! Studies have shown that repeated cortisone shots/epidural injections cause further damage and degeneration to the body.  In fact, you are not allowed to receive more than 3 per year into a joint.

Those who do this repeatedly are on the road to major surgeries like a total joint replacement.  And if that is not enough, they interfere with your other hormones, blood sugar balance, and immune suppression.

During a Free 15 minute consultation with Dr. Sorr, you will learn more about stem cells and regenerative medicine as an option in healing your pain.  At that visit, he will review any recent imaging and labs to better determine if you are a candidate for this therapy.

Types Of Stem Cells

Fat – Adipose-derived mesenchymal stem cells (ADMSC) are of the highest number in the body.  Under local anesthesia, a small amount of fat is taken from the abdomen or love handle area.  The tissue is taken to the lab, minimally processed, and then ready to be used for treatment.

Bone Marrow – BMAC is a rich source of hematopoietic stem cells. These cells are obtained from the iliac crest (Hip) and minimally processed.  For older patients, we typically advise using another source due to the low number of stem cells.

Exosomes – Small particles within stem cells containing growth factors, mRNA, microRNA, and many other important healing signals. These are not cells, but rather the crucial components of stem cells that, when released promote controlled healing and repair.

Exosome treatments are a prudent option due to their size. They are nanoparticles that can travel throughout the entire body, safely where cells cannot.  Once administered, exosomes travel as “heat-targeted missiles” to areas of inflamed tissue to reduce scarring and promote beneficial immunomodulatory effects. Exosomes are often, but not always combined with PRP (platelet-rich plasma) in areas of arthritis or tendinosis.

Exosomes are derived from stem cells of placental origin. There are approximately 1 billion exosomes per mL that can be harvested, tested for sterility and pathogens. This is a very safe and clean product that is now the most advanced treatment in stem cell regenerative medicine.

In the US, FDA guidelines restrict transferring any cell from another (non-autologous) into you. This is for your safety. Exosomes follow these guidelines strictly and are provided under the highest levels of care. The exosomes are free of cellular debris and do not contain another’s DNA.  The strict standards of Kimera Labs ensure the products safety to the patient.
