What Is Pediatric Functional Medicine And How Can It Help Your Children?
Would you like a holistic approach to your child’s wellness or healing journey? Would you like to work with a doctor who assesses the underlying root cause of diseases and offers preventive care?
If you answered ‘yes’ to these questions, Dr. Anna Wolyn can help you.
Dr. Wolyn specializes in pediatric functional medicine. This means that she provides pediatric medicine services which combine conventional and integrative treatments. She delivers optimized results by personalizing health care based on the unique needs and vulnerabilities of each patient.
But First: What Is Functional Medicine?
Functional medicine is a “systems biology-based approach that focuses on identifying and addressing the root cause of diseases.” This approach recognizes that each patient is different, especially in terms of biochemical and genetic make-up.
Thus, the goal is to manage the diseases by enabling the body’s natural healing mechanisms through a personalized health care and treatment plan. Functional medicine is rooted in scientifically proven knowledge and procedures and is focused on empowering patients—physically, emotionally and mentally.
Pediatric functional medicine is holistic medicine for kids. It is particularly helpful for kids with chronic diseases like auto-immune disorders, gastrointestinal problems, allergies, asthma, diabetes, metabolic disorders, ADHD, and autism, among others.
Functional medicine practitioners like Dr. Wolyn take into consideration not just the disease, but other aspects that affect a person’s health such as medical history, genetics, beliefs, social relationships, lifestyle and environmental factors. These factors are crucial to managing long-term and complex health issues, like chronic diseases.
